3 Ways to Get Back on Track to Reach Your Goals

Updated: Mar 29, 2023

Are you feeling like you've let yourself go a bit and need to get back on track?

Don't worry, you're not alone.

A lot of people find themselves in the same position at some point in their lives.

It can be difficult to stay on track when life gets busy, but thankfully there are a few things you can do to get back on track and reach your health & life goals.

Listen in or read on below for three tips that will set you up for success tp reach your goals.

Get Organized!

Did you know that being organized is one of the most important things in life?

In fact, getting organized can make or break your journey toward reaching your goal.

Ok, but I’m not an organized person! So, if the word organized is like a 4-letter word for you let’s go with some tips.

Let’s come up with a few tips to get you back on track to reach your health and life goals.

Let’s say you want to lose weight. What might you do to prepare for that?

A few things you might do:

  • Find some healthier recipes or make your favorites healthier.

  • Get a water bottle that you love and will inspire you to drink more water.

  • Maybe, buy some new workout clothes that make you feel great.

Feel free to hit me up for more ideas for your particular goal.

Set realistic goals.

Are you one to set really high goals? I get it! Sometimes I do the same.

This can often set you up for failure and then you may just quit.

Figure out what your end goal is and then let’s back into it or break it down.

If you want to lose 20 pounds, it’s not going to be realistic (or be best for your health) if you try to make it happen in a month.

5 pounds on average per week is not attainable or maintainable for most people.

Setting a goal of 1-2 pounds per week is more achievable and more sustainable. This may also help you create healthier habits that will last a lifetime.

Baby steps are going to help you get to your goal, maybe even quicker!

Honestly, as a health coach this is what I encourage my clients to do. Losing the 20 pounds should not be your final destination.

Continuing to maintain that weight and making healthy lifetime lifestyle habits would be an awesome goal for you. This would also set a great example for your kids, grandkids and loved ones to emulate.

Make a plan and stick to it.

Are you a planner or do you just wing it? I have found that setting a plan and sticking to it helps me stay on track and achieve my goals more quickly.

Stay with the plan for at least a couple of weeks. Don’t keep changing your plan.

Let’s stay with the goal of losing weight.

Let’s say you don’t eat healthy at all.

Then maybe starting with a goal like, I will eat a nice big salad for lunch 1-2 days a week the first week then add 1 day each week. This may be a great plan if you like salads.

Or perhaps you don’t drink enough water each day (about 50-60% of your body weight in ounces per day).

How much are you drinking now?

Add a ½ cup each day until you get to at least 50% per day.

Fill up that awesome water bottle you bought. Know how many of those bottles you need to drink.

One that helps me to know how much to drink is I fill a ½ gallon mason jar each morning because that is about how much I need to drink each day and I refill my water bottle from that.

If you don’t like the taste of water then add a few pieces of fruit or safe essential oils to flavor your water.

If after a couple of weeks, you find that your plan isn’t working then get curious about what is working and what’s not. No self-beat up!

Tweak your plan but don’t change or give up on your goal.

It can be tough to get back on track when it feels like you’ve been struggling for a while, but remember that you are not alone. Nearly everyone has times where they fall off the wagon and have to work extra hard to get back on track.

These three tips should help you get started on your road to better health and finally reaching your goals.

Remember to take things one step at a time, set realistic goals, and make a plan that you can stick to-and don’t forget to celebrate each victory no matter how small along the way!

How will you implement these tips into your daily routine?
