I want it and I want it now! We live in such a fast-paced world filled with instant gratification. If it is not fast enough… NEXT! We have been sooo conditioned!
It is not really a surprise that many people I talk to don’t stay in the game long enough to reach their goals. They want the change but if it takes a little longer then… NEXT.
Many people are looking for the quick fix. The magic pill that will make them lose the weight, be less stressed, stronger, have more energy, get in shape, whatever…
From what I have seen with my clients, friends and family the quick fix is generally temporary. Whatever you were trying to change changes back and sometimes you are set back further from where you started.
Sometimes, magic pills have unexpected side effects.
Real lasting change does not happen overnight.
So how do you get the results you are looking for?
Break it down.
Everyone that has worked with me knows I believe baby steps are the best way to get there.
My clients find that when they create small changes and incorporate them into their life, they become new habits. The new habits eventually add up and become lifestyle changes.
The lifestyle changes become natural, just what you do.
What’s working? What’s not? This is not a time to beat yourself up and give yourself a failing report card.
When you look at what you are doing through a lens of curiosity you are more productive and constructive. You get a clearer picture of what is working and what isn’t.
When we beat ourselves up all we see is what didn’t work.
What worked and what didn’t is all great feedback!
It helps you figure out what uniquely works for you. This allows you to learn, maybe discover more about yourself and adjust your course if necessary so you keep on track toward your goal.
Find accountability and support.
OK so maybe there really is a magic pill ;)
Finding someone that will support you and hold you accountable to reach for your goals will help you achieve your goals faster. With another person’s perspective you can determine those things that are preventing you from achieving your goals or slowing you down from reaching them.
When you find someone that is unbiased, will lovingly but firmly push you and will not cave when you are self-sabotaging you will be more motivated and inspired to obtain your goals.
When you have to report in to someone what you have accomplished (or not) you are more apt to stay on track and get results faster.
Accountability will also help with your self-development and self-growth.
Accountability and support are the secret sauce!
Spoiler alert… Accountability and support is what Coaches like me excel in and it is the number one reason our clients get the transformation and results they are looking for.
No lie! It is work to achieve lasting change. But so worth it!
