Do you have a strong immune system? Have you put all three pillars in place for your best health or just slapped on a couple Band-Aids?
A strong immune system can’t be achieved from a pill whether it is medication, a vitamin or a supplement.
Vitamins and supplements can help boost your immune system but you can’t just pop a few pills and think that’s enough. I’m good. I’m done for the day.
Think about it… supplement doesn’t mean instead of it means in addition to.
To build your immune system it will require taking care of and nourishing these three things.
Listen in or read on below to ensure you are creating a strong immune system.
Pillar 1 – Body
To build a strong immune system you must fuel your body with real whole foods.
If you are eating foods that are highly processed, full of sugar and a bunch of other ingredients you don’t know how to pronounce or what they are then you are weakening your body’s immune system.
Did you know that just eating something with sugar can suppress your immune system for hours?
Pretty sure we don't need our immune systems suppressed right now! Or really anytime!
Maybe there really is something to an apple a day...
There are many other things you can do to boost your immune system in this pillar.
Pillar 2 – Mind
Did you know that what you think, what you hear, what you believe all can affect your immune system?
Your mental state may create a reduction in immune function.
When we are fearful, stressed, angry, anxious these emotions lead to negative thoughts and our body going into a fight or flight mode.
When our body is in fight or flight mode our brain doesn’t recognize the difference between a lion chasing us or the news we just watched on the TV. Both create fear, anxiety and stress.
Either way our immune system is shut down as it is not as important as getting away from the attack.
So, if you are in a constant state of fight or flight due to stress, fear, anxiety, anger your immune system is not functioning optimally.
It’s impossible to prevent all the things that you know will create stress, fear and anxiety for you.
Be careful to guard your mind and thoughts as much as possible.
Learn what creates these emotions and learn what helps you quickly diffuse these emotions. Use these tools as often as needed.
Some helpful tools I use are deep breathing, time outside and exercise.
Pillar 3 – Spirit
Prayer is one form of spirituality. There are many forms.
Daily prayer lowers stress levels, which positively impacts your blood pressure, your heart rate and your immune system.
People who pray have been found to have healthier eating and sleeping habits, better mental focus and a much higher likelihood of maintaining an ideal weight.
Through prayer we create a sense of well-being, flooding the brain with immunity-boosting hormones.
Prayer is a gift and a great tool to find strength and peace even in the most trying times. Prayer is your strongest and mightiest weapon. You have a direct connection to God. I encourage you to grow closer to God.
Go ahead give it to God. He can handle it!
